PREPARATION FOR BARCELONA 3HR

Caitlin has been busy preparing for her upcoming race in the Blancpain Endurance Series at Barcelona on the 29th September - 1st October. There are many aspects and elements that go on behind the scenes to make sure a racing driver is 100% prepared and ready for their upcoming races. One element that is extremely important for any modern racing car driver is simulator work. Caitlin travels to the Netherlands before every race to Adrenaline Control to use their high-tech simulator enabling her to learn the track, work on driving techniques and focus on preparing for her upcoming races.

"In today's era, simulators are one of the biggest advantages for any racing driver. Essentially, if you are not using them you are already 5 steps behind before you even step foot at the race track. The developments on their technology over the past few years has been incredible. Before each race I spend a lot of time on the Reiter simulator at the workshop but I always make sure I spend one day at Adrenaline Control as it is a more developed and sophisticated sim. My engineer has live telemetry so he is watching exactly what I am doing behind me and can pick up straight away if I am making a mistake or need to change my driving style etc."

"We roughly do around a 4 hour session, and I am in the simulator for the majority of that time - which can be quite intense! Especially as it has all the realistic forces a normal race car would have. This is why it is such great preparation as it trains you both physically and mentally. It is the closest thing you can get to actually being in a real race car." Caitlin says.

"I am extremely focused for Barcelona coming up in a few weeks, I am trying to tick all of the boxes to finally be able to show our full potential on a race weekend. It has been a tough season with unfortunately not much seat time but I am ready to turn that around and end the last Blancpain GT event of the year with a good result!"

You can follow all of the action from the race weekend here on her website or on any of her social media sites.
